Maria Tsakona

Maria Tsakona is an International Solid Waste Management Consultant and Product Manager at D-Waste. Waste management planning, development of waste Management projects and training are some of the fields that she has been working on since 2005. Currently her main focus is on the provision of sound, sustainable and affordable waste management in developing and transitional countries as well as on the development of web and mobile applications to make knowledge about solid waste management more accessible to everyone.

Marine litter is a field that has recently attracted her attention and since 2012 she is participating in relative working groups around the world so as to bring together experts on marine pollution with experts of the solid waste management sector.

Maria is a passionate supporter of the Waste Atlas, an initiative in which global waste management data are visualized on an online map developed by D-Waste and supported by ISWA, Sweep-Net, SWAPI, WTERT and University of Leeds.

CONTRIBUTIONS

Maria is the Curator of Public Health & Quality of Life theme from the 2014 Global Dialogue on Waste.
