Mariel Vilella

Based in Manchester, UK, Mariel Vilella leads GAIA’s climate work at the global level, focusing on the development and implementation of GAIA’s strategic vision and co-producing plans in collaboration with GAIA’s regional offices, GAIA members, and allies worldwide that are promoting zero waste policies and practices with particular emphasis on the participation and inclusion of waste workers and frontline communities. Ms. Vilella has training in sociology and communication studies and has wide experience in facilitating strategic planning processes for environmental campaigning, driving and implementing organisational development, and delivering inclusive, high-impact campaigns bringing local grassroots groups to the global policy arena.
