Piotr Barczak

Board Member, Polish Zero Waste Association

Piotr is a Belgian/Polish national with over 13 years of experience in circular economy policy development. Currently he is a Council Member of the European Environmental Bureau and a Board Member of the Polish Zero Waste Association. He is also very much involved in the development of the circular economy in Africa. Previously, he worked at the Polish Ministry of the Environment, and Polish Humanitarian Action. He holds two Master Diplomas in spatial management, environmental sciences, and geography. In 2022, he accomplished Leaders for Nature Academy by MAVA Foundation. He is well networked, sitting in advisory bodies of few organisations, notably the International Council for Circular Economy and Circular Economy Coalition. Due to his experience in this field, Piotr is often invited to review policy papers and reports related to waste and the circular economy. Piotr gave over 200 presentations worldwide, including high-level parliamentary hearings and academic lectures. He was chairing the Waste Working Group of the EEB in years 2013–2023. It comprises local waste management experts across Europe and beyond with hands-on experience on waste systems, both downstream treatment and upstream product policy.
