Robert Thompson, Packaging Technologist @The Co-op

Rob leads the packaging sustainability strategy for his own brand packaging within the Ethics, Sustainability and Policy team at Co-op Food. He has worked in packaging development for over 20 years with experience working in composite can manufacture, frozen food, soft drinks and retail. He is a Chartered Environmentalist and a fellow of the Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining.

Sarahjane Widdowson, Director @Intelisos Ltd.

Sarahjane Widdowson is a Chartered Waste Manager working as an independent consultant for As a consultant, she advises clients on all aspects of waste and recycling from circular economy and sustainability through to waste operations, treatment and disposal. Sarahjane is a Trustee for (an amazing charity that shares recycling skills worldwide), a CIWM Centre Councillor (London & Southern Counties) and a Fellow of the RSA. She’s interested in everything connected with the environment, climate change and social change, as what we do and how we behave in our everyday lives often dictates the waste we produce and how we manage it.

Jarno Stet, Waste and Recycling Manager @Westminster City Council

Jarno Stet was educated in Amsterdam and London and he holds a double degree in facilities management in both these countries. He has worked for Westminster City Council since 2003, currently as Waste & Recycling Manager looking after the City Council’s Waste and Recycling Collection, Street Cleansing and Ancillary Services and Waste Treatment Contracts that provide environmental services to a resident population of 250,000, 34,000 businesses as well as 1 million daily visitors, commuters and tourists. Jarno is current Secretary of the National Association of Waste Disposal Officers (NAWDO). NAWDO is the primary network for senior local authority (LA) waste managers with statutory responsibilities for waste disposal. It represents the interests of the client side of waste management for LA waste disposal authorities.


Adam Read, Director of External Affairs, SUEZ Recycling & Recovery

Adam is the moderator of this interaction. He is the Director of External Affairs at SUEZ Recycling & Recovery. Adam has specialized in waste management policy development, strategic decision-making, behaviour change, procurement and training for the last 19 years, first as a municipal waste management officer, then as a University-based researcher, and for the last 12 years as a consultant working globally on waste services and strategies.
