Waste Conversations in May | Julie Kearns & Moana Simas
The first interview (45 minutes) starts at
3 PM GMT/UTC on 22nd May, 2017
and will be followed by the second interview (15 minutes) at
3.45 PM GMT/UTC on 22nd May, 2017
Our first interview (at 3 PM UTC) is with Julie Kearns, Founder and Finder, at the Minneapolis-based, 3000 ft2, best-in- class, daily vintage/reuse shopping experience known as Junket: Tossed & Found, and is also widely credited with having led the revitalization of formerly-blighted Minnehaha Avenue into a destination district for all things sustainability and reuse.
Local mission accomplished, she is now leading a broader charge to enable emissions-informed shopping choices for individual consumers and the businesses who serve them, figuring that if a bootstrapped junk shop can do it, so can everyone else.
Following our interview with Julie, at 3:45 PM UTC, we’ll discuss the findings from an important publication on industrial ecology, a must-know subject for circular economy, and waste and resource management professionals. We’ll interview its lead author, Moana Simas, a PhD candidate at the Industrial Ecology Programme of the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. The interview will be based on the paper Correlation between production and consumption-based environmental indicators.
