Climate and Resilience Lead, Practical Action West Africa
Alioune is the Thematic Lead Climate and Resilience for Practical Action West Africa. As part of this role, he is in charge of a project on Improving human health and livelihood through reducing open burning waste in Senegal funded by the Royal Academy of Engineering. He has worked on research and development projects in the Sahelian countries (Burkina Faso, Chad, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Senegal) funded by donors such as the World Bank, IFAD and the FAO. He holds a PhD in development economics from the Centre d'Etudes et de Recherches sur le Développement International (CERDI) at University of Clermont-Auvergne, which focuses on the adaptation strategies of agricultural households to shocks. Alioune also holds two masters degrees in sustainable development, environment and energy economics from AgroParisTech and in agricultural economics from the Université Cheikh Anta Diop (UCAD) in Dakar.
