Founder & Director, Chintan (Environmental Research and Action Group

Bharati Chaturvedi works in India on the cross-cutting issues of environmental justice, urban equity, and inclusion from a gendered lens. Her sphere of work is India and the Global South. A key path for her practice is as the founder of an India-based non-profit, Chintan, which is a gendered think tank that envisions an equitable circular society. Chintan’s key themes of work include waste and the circular society, air pollution, and climate change. Bharati writes a column on the issues for the Hindustan Times, one of India’s most widely read newspapers. Shas served on various government bodies to advise policymaking, from the Delhi Pollution Control Committee to the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change. She serves on various boards, including as an independent director. She has a master's degree in international public policy from the School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University.
