Senior Researcher,·The Alliance to End Plastic Waste
Demetra Tsiamis, a chemical engineer with a background in applied research and education in sustainable waste management, is a Senior Researcher at The Alliance to End Plastic Waste focusing on the circular economy for plastics. Previously, as the Associate Director of the Earth
Engineering Center at the City College of New York, she has worked on applied research programs in thermal conversion of municipal solid waste (MSW) with a focus on gasification and pyrolysis of non-recycled plastics. She also led education and public outreach initiatives and she has co-authored a textbook on MSW conversion. Ms. Tsiamis received a M.S. in chemical engineering from Columbia University and a B.E. in chemical engineering from The Cooper Union. She is a member of the International Solid Waste Association and the Global Waste-to- Energy Research and Technology Council.
