Gabriela Moya Toledo is a climate finance and policy expert with over 15 years’ experience within strategic consulting, the United Nations and banking, on sustainable finance internationally, at regional and country levels developing finance strategies/mechanisms, capacity building and business opportunities for climate compatible development. She has led technical and strategic advisory projects for governments, international organisations and the financial sector aimed at accelerating the implementation of Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC), as well as adaptation to the physical impacts of climate change. Her technical expertise spans climate/green finance to finance NDCs, financing mechanisms including blended finance, climate funds for mitigation and adaptation, carbon markets, policy advisory (sectoral, national and subnational levels), project pipeline identification, prioritisation and mobilisation of different types of financing, the enabling environment to attract private capital and capacity building. She has extensive experience working with governments and the financial sector (regulators, associations, commercial financing institutions, development banks, MDBs, VC, PE funds, climate related accelerators, and Ministries). Acted as United Nations Environment Program Finance Initiative (UNEP FI) lead for Latin America and North America working with financial institutions to accelerate sustainable finance including natural capital. As consultant she has managed the delivery and provided technical expertise of numerous complex and multi-stakeholder advisory projects across countries and regions (Latin America, Asia, Africa and Europe). Recently she acted as technical advisor for the concept note proposal to the Green Climate Fund in Tanzania as part of the Green Cities and Infrastructure Programme to increase climate-resilient waste management in coastal cities in Dar es Salaam and Zanzibar. Previously Gabriela worked at HSBC in commercial banking developing sustainable finance projects and raising awareness internally to identify project pipelines for the bank. Gabriela holds a Master degree of Science in Climate Change and Policy with a focus on climate finance from the University of Sussex, UK.
