Lorena Gallardo is an expert in solid waste management, inclusive recycling and circular economy. She studied Environmental Engineering at San Francisco University of Quito, Ecuador, a Master's degree in Sustainable Cities and Buildings at the University of Melbourne, Australia and a Specialization in Leadership, Climate Change and Cities at FLACSO, Ecuador. Lorena is the co-founder and CTO at ReciVeci, a social start-up that promotes the link between grassroots recyclers and citizens. Also, Lorena has been university lecturer and a consultant in NGOs and companies such as Clean Air Task Force, Ambire Global, Global Factor and Avina Foundation in topics related to circular economy and waste management. Also, she is a One Young World Summit Ambassador, the largest global community of young leaders. Lorena has published documents such as "Systematization of Inclusive Recycling Experiences for the Metropolitan District of Quito" for Avina Foundation in 2022 and "Climate Change Mitigation and Grassroots Recyclers, Case Study: Carbon Footprint of Aluminium Recycling in Ecuador" in the Ecuadorian Journal of Science in 2021.
