Pinky Chandran leads Break Free from Plastic’s efforts in the Asia-Pacific region. She has spent most of her career as a journalist, researcher, and adviser to various organizations and social movements.
Currently, she is a trustee at Hasiru Dala, a social impact organization working with waste pickers; the Solid Waste Management Round Table (SWMRT); and a board member of SMART and TAICT in India.
She has led community mobilization efforts across diverse community groups during her 15-year stint running Bangalore's first community radio station, which she co-founded. Pinky tracks policy and legal developments on issues related to waste management and its intersections. Garbage inspires her to write poetry. She is a dog lover and a pet parent
