Srikrishna Balachandran is an Energy & Environmental Engineer associated with the Climate change academically as well as professionally. He has been part of the Climate Change Advisory team of Ernst & Young. In this role, he was part of the World Bank project that involved replacement of 30 million incandescent lamps to CFL lamps in Bangladesh driving huge savings in an energy-deficit country. Further he was involved with advising Gujarat government on efficient Urban Infrastructure for a brief period.
Srikrishna is currently part of a Social Inclusion project – “I Got Garbage” with Mindtree Limited. IGG as they call it is an initiative that aspires to empower millions of Ragpickers with technology and other support that can provide them dignified livelihood. Further, each Ragpicker would be turned into professional Recycling managers as well as enable millions of citizens manage their waste responsibly through a digital platform. It’s a unique project in its own way and he is leading the core product team.
Srikrishna is also the Area manager of Al gore’s Climate Reality Project which aims at sensitization drives around Climate Change and enabling informed policy decisions among various stakeholders. In this role, he has been a trained member and a mentor since 2008.
