Toine Timmermans is Program Manager Circular Economy in Food at Wageningen University & Research, and Coordinator of the EU projects FUSIONS and REFRESH. The overall aim of the project REFRESH is to contribute to SDG 12.3, halving food loss and food waste across the post-harvest supply chain. A central ambition of the REFRESH project is to develop and implement National ‘Framework for Action’ models, based on strategic agreements across all stages of the supply chain, delivered through collaborative working and supported by evidence-based tools to allow targeted, cost effective interventions. www.eu-refresh.org National platforms are piloted in Germany, Spain, Hungary, the Netherlands and China. After a successful launch of the Dutch platform in 2017, Toine is since 2019 the managing Director of the Dutch foundation United Against Food Waste, the National private-public partnership with the ambition to half food waste in the Netherlands in 2030 www.samentegenvoedselverspilling.nl.
