Dr Virendra Kumar Gupta

Dr Virendra Kumar Gupta is a Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences (NASI), India, and Head, R&D Polymer and Senior Vice President of Reliance Industries Limited, Navi Mumbai. He is a distinguished expert in polymer science and technology, with the major accomplishment of being the first in India to translate his basic research into the polyolefin technology of polyethylene and polypropylene products in commercial operation. The technologies developed and commercialized by him received twenty-seven national and international awards. Dr. Gupta received his Ph.D. in chemistry from Banaras Hindu University, India, in 1984. He has over 40 years of experience globally in research, technology, and management. His research association with Nobel laureate Prof. Robert Grubbs from 2008 to 2020 led to the development of Next Gen Materials and Processes. Dr Gupta's current interests include sustainable science and technology, with a focus on the circular economy and green energy. Dr Gupta's contributions include 230 global patents, 125 research publications, and 155 scientific talks at national and international conferences. He is also honored as a Fellow of the International Association of Advanced Materials (FIAAM) and a Fellow of the Industry Academy in the International Artificial Intelligence Industry Alliance. He is a member of the executive committees of many international and national associations.
