Every day, communities and governments worldwide face urgent waste challenges. We continue to read stories of landfill fires, misaligned collection and recycling systems, and growing pollution of the oceans, as well as toxic emissions. Yet, the solutions—regulatory, technical, and social—are siloed and scattered. be Waste Wise aims to bridge this gap.  We bring together the best minds, resources, and innovations — and we make them freely accessible to practitioners, policymakers, educators, and communities.

What is be Waste Wise in a nutshell?

  • 481 contributors
  • 231 webinars
  • 6000+ community

We are our community. Our community of speakers, moderators, and subscribers. Our community is growing: policymakers, local waste managers, NGOs, academics, and private sector stakeholders regularly engage as speakers, moderators, and audience members. Driven by our values of Dialogue and Diversity, we strive to bring underrepresented voices into the conversation about waste and sustainability.

What is our qualitative impact?

  • We have convened experts from across six continents, including leading institutions and grassroots organisations, over the last 12 years.
  • We have 18 categories of topics for our webinars, and they continue to grow as issues related to waste get more specific.
  • All our speakers are accessible to the audience during and after the webinar. Audience members can connect with each other and our moderators after the webinar to collaborate on projects, case studies, and knowledge dissemination.

What is our ask?

We need USD 20,000 to support our work over the next two years. Our 2023 fundraising campaign enabled us to expand our moderator base over the past two years. Our request for funds now will help us to:

  • Invest time in better understanding knowledge gaps to fill in new webinars
  • Create bite-sized videos to better disseminate the knowledge we acquire from our experts
  • Build a robust network of sustainability professionals and volunteers, and engage them meaningfully

Every dollar you invest multiplies into knowledge, capacity, and eventually meaningful systems change across the world. Let’s build — together — a world that thinks, acts, and thrives waste-wise.
