Karen is Head of Research at Feedback, a UK-based campaign group working to regenerate nature by transforming our food system. Karen leads Feedback’s investigative work on the environmental impact of conventional animal feed, such as soya. fish meal and fish oil, and alternatives, such as heat-treated surplus food. Karen has just finished a four-year research project in coordination with the University of Wageningen on the safety and environmental aspects of using surplus food in pig feed; a proposal now back on the table with policy-makers. In addition, Karen supports colleagues in ensuring Feedback campaigns are underpinned with the latest available scientific research.
