Zoë Lenkiewicz

Zoë Lenkiewicz combines technical and social expertise in waste management systems to bring an end to open dumping and burning and drive a just transition to a circular economy. Zoë has more than two decades’ experience in waste management, working in local government, academia, consultancy and the third sector, in the UK, Africa and South-East Asia. Zoë has authored an award-winning guide for communities in the global south (WasteAid), Towards Zero Waste: A Catalyst for Delivering the Sustainable Development Goals (UNEP), and the Global Waste Management Outlook 2024 (UNEP/ISWA). Now the founder and director of the Global Waste Lab, Zoë supports early-stage and people-centric waste management services with a focus on community-ownership, equity and sustainability.
